If you don't know me, then you don't know I am one of those people that like to read and write long descriptions. And because this is the first picture I’ve ever done like this, this one’s going to be especially long.
Simply put, this is from my Mass Effect fanfic about what happens after the Destroy ending [link] I’ve added the specific excerpt at the end of this description. This is Tempest Shepard (based off my in-game Shepard here [link]) and her lover, Garrus. I assumed from Shepard's comment "Hey, it's windy up here" that it'd be well, windy up there!
This is my first foray into the world of 3D and though I can’t draw how I’d like to be able to draw, I feel 3D manipulation/rendering will help me to express myself further. I took about two weeks to learn everything I needed/wanted to and it was a long, frustrating journey hundreds of hours in the making, though the picture itself is simple. I have a few people to credit here: For helping me figure out and learn A LOT about how to fix the models in Blender for rendering. I would have never been able to render in Blender without her. For Garrus’ extracted model. Goha of the Tomb Raider forums: For Shepard’s extracted model. And last, but the lady who helped me start all of this: the wonderful and kind . I did not even realize those type of programs existed until I saw her work and she was so, SO wonderful and helpful throughout the entire process answering every inane question I had for the past month or so to the best of her ability. I owe you so much for opening up another door to me, I <3 you.
And so many more people for all their various tutorials and information, I’ve already thanked you personally.
Software used: DAZ Studio 4, XNALara, Blender, Adobe Photoshop.
Now back to the actual piece description. Specifically this simple pic comes from this excerpt (abridged):
On the day they affirmed their relationship on the Citadel Shepard had done something unusual: she had asked for a picture.
“Hey, let’s take a picture,” she had said, smiling.
“A picture?” Garrus repeated, surprised. Shepard wasn’t really the sentimental type. At least if she ever had been, she could no longer afford to be - not with the war.
“Yeah, why not? You can take it with your omni-tool.” Seeing that Garrus was looking strangely at her, Shepard added “I was just thinking that I don’t have any pictures of us. And how often do we get to go to the top of the Presidium?”
Garrus stared a little longer, trying to study her face. They both knew the stakes of this war, but it was still hard to see her like this. For someone else, it might not have meant anything. But Garrus knew.
Knew that she was worried and didn’t know if they’d ever get another chance like this again.
“Alright, but you owe me, Shepard. You know how I feel about taking pictures.”
She had just smiled and pulled him close. “Don’t worry; I’m sure I can think of a way to thank you.”
Garrus looked down at the picture now, wondering how many times she had held it like he was now. Looking at her now and seeing how happy she looked in the picture, Garrus thought there wasn’t anyone more beautiful in the galaxy. “And there’s no one I’d rather see more right now.”
The backgrounds, Shepard's body model and Garrus are all property of BioWare and EA. The DAZ model of Shepard belongs to DAZ. All editing and manipulation is my work. No profit was made on this in any way.
